XHamster Review: Sex With The Masses
A few minutes ago, I was looking over some of the latest and greatest XCom patch releases, and I noticed that XCom: Alien Unleashed had been released. I have to say, it is one of the best mods I have seen in years. But now that it's out, I am going to give you a quick review, and a little bit about XCom: Alien Unleashed. I'll also touch on whether or not I think it's any good as an actual game. By the time you are done reading this, you might be more interested in what XCom: Alien Unleashed has to offer you.
First, let me touch on the fact that there is a mod that allows you to play the mod for free. You can download it from the XCom: Alien Unleashed website, which is located at the download section. The reason why I like it so much is because there are no commercials, and the download speed is faster than the official site. So you won't be waiting for hours to be able to play as an icon soldier, because you have the mod installed! In addition, since there is no download to deal with, there is no spyware or adware to worry about either.
Secondly, let me touch on the new content that has been added to the mod. The main content includes new missions, more soldier classes, more female soldiers, and the ability to purchase armor and clothing. Some of the content actually makes the most sense, and some of it doesn't. It seems like they cut a lot of stuff that would have added to the actual game, but other people probably think the lack of sex was a purpose for that.
That being said, the new additions to the game are great. New missions allow you to try out different sexual scenarios. I don't necessarily recommend doing them all the time, but you can try them out to see how they work, or just for your own personal enjoyment. If you are into role-playing games then this may not be a huge step forward in your life, but it is still something worth trying out. Some people are turned on by the idea of having sex with everyone you meet in the game, and that is probably fine too.
The thing that bugs me is the whole "sex is bad" angle that they take. For me, I am all for a game that promotes wholesome, healthy relationships between gamers. I don't really care if people get married or not. That's their choice, and their business. I don't have a problem with people enjoying their sexuality though, and I don't think xHamster is being intentionally malicious here. They are just presenting a new angle on an old game that could have been very interesting, and at the same time very enjoyable.
It does raise the issue that there are probably many other people out there who feel the same way too. So, what do you do? Unfortunately, this game has a pay-out system, so all you can do is play to your heart's content and wait for the payout. I personally haven't had any luck with it, but I'm sure others have had some success. Ultimately, the decision comes down to what you think is more fun. Personally, I like the idea of having a new partner every month, but others may prefer the status quo.
